Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the sole purpose of the politics of ruling elite is to enjoy power and secure the interest of their own class. In a statement issued from Mansoora on Saturday, he said the politics on the basis of money and power were meant never for serving the masses.

Siraj lamented the former and present governments badly failed to formulate pro-public policies, damaging the social and economic fabric of the society. He said it was a need of the hour that youth and educated people joined politics and took stand to get rid of the status quo parties.

The door of the JI, he said, was always open for those people who wanted to turn Pakistan an Islamic welfare state through a peaceful and democratic struggle. He said after testing every status quo party and witnessing the military regimes for seven decades, the people had left with no option but to elect the honest and dedicated leadership in the polls.

Meanwhile, JI Deputy Chief Liaqat Baloch said the criminal silence of the government on Kashmir issue darkened the future of the millions of the residents of the Indian held area. While addressing the JI Manifesto Committee at Mansoora on Saturday, he expressed regret over the government silence on the cause, saying Islamabad act was tantamount to providing underhand support to New Delhi at a time when thousands within India were protesting against Modi's anti-Muslim policies.

He said the government would no more be able to obtain blind support of establishment because Army Act had become a law now. So, he added, government must set its direction to avoid the public anger. But, he feared, the rulers did not seem in a mood to introduce reforms, paving way for early election or in-house change in near future.

The JI leaders condemned the suicide attack in Quetta mosque, terming the incident a direct attack on the state. Siraj and Baloch expressed condolence with the families of victims and prayed for the deceased and injured.
