Secretary Food Punjab Waqas Ali Mehmood visited Faisalabad and chaired a meeting regarding sugarcane crushing season and price control mechanism in DC office. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali gave a detailed briefing on the crushing season and price control to the Provincial Secretary Food.
Secretary Food Punjab said that the Punjab govt was active in protecting the rights of the sugarcane farmers in province and he had been assigned duty to monitor price control activities besides crushing season in this regard.
He said that the schedule of payments on CPRs of the current crushing season should be strictly implemented so that the farmers could get full payment within the stipulated days. He asked the Sugar Mills administration to pay its outstanding dues so that the farmers would not face problems.
Secretary Food Punjab said that the implementation of price control mechanism across the district should be ensured as per the government vision and raids would be continued in the markets and bazaars and consumers should be relieved after the actions of price control magistrates. He said that the Punjab government has fixed the price of 20kg bags of flour at Rs805 on which to ensure the sale at all costs while also checking the availability of flour in the markets regularly. He said that the Assistant Commissioners taking on price control important task along with other assignments.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali said during the briefing that 444 inspections have been conducted so far during the monitoring of crushing season across the district and the culprits have been fined Rs70,000 and 8 cases have been registered against middlemen while 6 accused of middleman role have arrested. He said that 5 sugar mills had functional in the district in which the district and tehsil committees were active in monitoring the crushing season so that the farmers' complaints can be resolved immediately.
He said that till now 40 percent of the total crushing has been completed. He informed that Rs97,900 was fined while this year so far during 4815 inspections and registered cases against 23 shopkeepers on violation of price control act.
He said that a continuous campaign to prevent overcharging was underway and availability of essential commodities including flour at vendors, markets, bazaars while sale at controlled prices is being ensured. He said that crackdown against hoarding is also carried out and in 8 different raids two persons were arrested. He informed that nearly 50 thousand bags were taken in custody of gram pulse; Rice and red chilli were recovered.
He said that four sasta bazaars had been functional where flour, sugar pulses, potatoes, onions, tomatos are being sold at DC rates. He said that 4 farmer platforms set up at Sadhar Vegetables market, GM Abad market, Model Bazaar Jhang road and model bazaar Millat road and Arthi had been selling their commodities directly.
He said that the items are available at the required control prices at 24 mega stores while various fruits are being sold in markets by weight based. DC said that Drust Dam Application has been introduced and people have been buying commodities via call after checking the rates on App and five points ha been established in this regard.
He said bike riders provided the home delivery within an hour to the customers and this system would be expanded throughout the city Area.
