The Karachi Port handled 88,711 tonnes of cargo comprising 68,065 tonnes of import cargo and 20,646 tonnes of export cargo including 3,203 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 68,065 tonnes comprised of 25,051 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,000 tonnes of petcock and 34,014 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 20,646 tonnes comprised of 19,832 tonnes of containerised cargo; 814 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,203 containers comprising of 1,924 containers of import and 1,279 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 594 of 20's and 582 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 82 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 323 of 20's and 432 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Wieland, Bay Spirit and Sea Ambition carrying containers, tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. YM Excellence, Wieland and Oriental Marguerite carrying containers and tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 80,201 tonnes comprising 62,452 tonnes of import cargo and 17,749 tonnes of export cargo including 2,372 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 62,452 tonnes includes 24,600 tonnes of coal; 5,070 tonnes of canola; 1,950 tonnes of soyabean oil; 565 tonnes of general cargo and 30,267 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 17,749 tonnes includes 2,948 tonnes of rice and 14,801 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,372 containers comprising of 1,593 containers import and 779 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely Pacific Endeavour and Pedhoulas Cherry carrying soyabean and canola respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely HTK Confidence carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, canola, general cargo, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Sun Excelsior, Captain Pegglizos, Lanna Pegglizox, Happy Osprey, NH Siri, Chemroad Sirius, Silver Millie, Porest Park and Chemroad Dita carrying soyabean, rice, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Maersk Detroit, MOL Grandeur, Pacific Achievment, Captain Pegglizos, Sea Ambition and Chemroad Dita carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely Maersk Detroit, MOL Grandeur, Pacific Achievment and Sea Ambition carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely APL Antwerp and Hugo Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
