The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has imposed Section 144 in the city and banned gathering of five or more persons and carrying or displaying firearms for a period of two months.
The notification issued by ICT administration says that certain segments of society are planning to organize unlawful assemblies including processions within the jurisdiction of ICT which can disrupt public place and tranquility.
Keeping in view the current law and order situation, it is necessary to control such types of illegal activities which present a threat to public place and maintenance of law and order.
It says that there are sufficient grounds for imposing Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898.
The ICT administration has banned all kinds of gatherings of five or more persons, processions, rallies and demonstration within the limits of ICT.
The administration also banned use of loudspeakers, sound amplifiers and sound systems (except for Azan and Friday sermons) as well as stock, sale, purchase and use of fire crackers and fire works in the ICT limits.
According to a separate notification, no person other than the members of armed forces, civil law enforcement agencies, Rangers and police on duty shall carry firearms or display firearms in the ICT limits.
