The Met Office has asked the growers to take precautionary measures to protect their nurseries, vegetables and orchids from severe cold weather.

It said that pesticides should be sprayed to ward off pests attack on the crops in line with the agriculture department's advisories. The next few days' weather for farmers is expected to be as below.

On Friday, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while very cold in northern parts. However, rain with snowfall over hills is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Chitral, Malakand, Swat, Kalam, Mansehra, Abottabad, Kohistan, Swabi, Buner, Shangla, and Kurram), Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujrat, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

On Saturday, rain with snowfall over hills is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper/central Punjab (Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Sialkot, Narowal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Gujrat), Quetta, Pishin, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

While on Sunday, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while very cold in northern parts. However, rain/snowfall is expected in Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas. Fog is likely to prevail in upper/central Punjab and upper Sindh.

In the next 24 hours, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country, while very cold in upper parts and north Balochistan. Rain/snowfall over hills is expected at isolated places in northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. However, fog is likely to prevail at a few places of plain areas of Punjab during night/morning hours.

In the past 24 hour, weather remained cold and dry in the most parts of the country. However, rain occurred at a few places in Skardu. Skardu received 11 mm of rainfall with 9 inches of snowfall followed by Astore 2 inches.

Kalam and Gupis with minus 13 degrees Celsius, each, were the coldest places in the country followed by Bagrote minus 11, Astore, Chitral and Parachinar minus 10, each, Quetta minus 9, Kalat and Skardu minus 7, each, Gilgit and Dir minus 6, each, Dalbandin minus 5, Rawlakot and Malamjabba minus 4, each, Drosh and Zhob minus 3, each.

Minimum temperature in Karachi is expected to remain up to 9 degrees Celsius with 60 percent humidity in the morning hours. Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail in the next 24 hours.

"Continental air is prevailing over most upper parts of the country," the Met added.
