The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association purchased 99,075 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender seeking the same volume which closed on Thursday, European traders said.

The wheat was bought in two consignments comprising various wheat types for shipment from the US Pacific Northwest coast in March and April, they said.

The first consignment for shipment between March 10 and March 24 involved 26,550 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5% protein content bought at $270.20 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast from trading house Columbia Grain, traders said.

The first consignment also involved 16,825 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5% protein content

bought from ADM at

$243.02 a tonne FOB and 7,000 tonnes of soft white wheat with 9% protein purchased from ADM at $244.11 a tonne FOB.

The first consignment has an additional freight charge of $30.14 per tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said.

The second consignment for shipment between March 26 and April 9 involved 26,450 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5% protein content bought from Columbia Grain at $276.30 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast.

The second consignment also included 17,000 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5% protein content bought from Japanese trading house Mitsui at $239.27 a tonne FOB and 5,250 tonnes of soft white wheat of 9% protein also bought from Mitsui at $243.37 a tonne FOB.

The second consignment has an additional freight charge of $31.23 per tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said.

In its last reported tender on Nov. 15, the association purchased 95,750 tonnes of milling wheat also to be sourced from the United States.
