Selena Gomez has just topped the Billboard 200 Chart hit this week with her new album ‘Rare’. To celebrate, she took to her official Instagram account to thank fans for once again making her album a big hit.
“I was a bit embarrassed asking so often for you to stream or buy my album. It felt inauthentic. Thank you so much for making something so personal to me be a moment I’ll never forget,” she wrote.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
According to Billboard, The set, which was released January 10 via Interscope Records, starts with 112,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending January 16.
In total, ‘Rare’ start of 112,000 units was powered by nearly 56,000 in SEA units (equating to 79.3 million on-demand streams for album’s tracks), just under 53,000 in album sales, and a little over 3,000 in TEA units.
Earlier, Gomez’s previous albums ‘Revival’ (2015) and ‘Stars Dance’ (2013) also secured the top spot on the Billboard chart.
