Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures on Wednesday ended lower on profit-taking after the most-active contract reached its highest price since August 2018, traders said.

In Russia, the world's top wheat supplier, a proposal to cap grain exports has focused wheat markets on tightening global supplies at a time of brisk demand.

Rail and port strikes in France have raised the risk of reduced export availability in the European Union's biggest wheat supplier.

Australia, another wheat exporter, is suffering from a drought-hit harvest.
