The Karachi Port handled 193,010 tonnes of cargo comprising 163,757 tonnes of import cargo and 29,253 tonnes of export cargo including 6,911 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 163,757 tonnes comprised of 85,600 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29,357 tonnes of bulk cargo and 48,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 29,253 tonnes comprised of 17,135 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,881 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,059 tonnes of clinker and 1,178 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,911 containers comprising of 5,038 containers of import and 1,873 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 2,236 of 20's and 1,380 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 21 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 603 of 20's and 187 of 40's loaded containers while 358 of 20's and 269 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely AS Paola, KMTC Mumbai, Coral Star, Smiley Lady, Hyundai Confidence and Glovis Sirius carrying containers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Cosco Hong Kong, Smiley Lady, Hyundai Confidence, Balbina, Maa Saleh Begum and Maple Liv carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 212,342 tonnes comprising 180,359 tonnes of import cargo and 31,983 tonnes of export cargo including 3,626 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 180,359 tonnes includes 50,000 tonnes of LNG; 20,000 tonnes of coal; 11,320 tonnes of palm oil; 9,500 tonnes of soyabean; 41,632 tonnes of gas oil; 8,977 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 38,930 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 31,983 tonnes includes 2,020 tonnes of rice and 29,963 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,626 containers comprising of 2,049 containers import and 1,577 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely Simley Lady and Pine Hurst carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, soyabean, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten vessels viz. Maersk Bentowile, OOCL Atlanta, Sakizaya Integrity, Marangas Lindos, White Purl, The Odosia, Victoria, Atlantic Breeze, Dong Hai and Al Taurus carrying containers, canola, LNG, LPG, mogas, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Maersk Bentowile, OOCL Atlanta, Marangas Lindos, The Odosia and Dong Hai carrying containers, LNG, gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Maersk Bentowile carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
