In the wake of coronavirus outbreak in China, vaccination counter has been established here at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

All the passengers arriving into Pakistan from China are undergoing a strict screening at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore Airports, official sources said.

The staff members of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and health department have been deputed at the counter for the checkup of the passengers coming from China. The counter will also examine those taking connecting flights, sources said.

The screening of passengers coming from China is aimed at preventing the spread of the deadly disease caused by a new virus named "2019-nCoV", an official of the health department, said. "We are closely monitoring the development and screening passengers coming from China," he added.

Moreover, all the hospitals across the country have been alerted and anyone recently visiting China and found with symptoms of pneumonia, cold, sneezing, coughing and fever have been requested to report to the nearest health facility center, an official of health department said. He added that there is no specific treatment for the new virus, but anti-virals are being considered.

The Ministry of National Health Services (NHS), Regulations and Coordination has already alerted the Disease Surveillance Division and Central Health Establishment to the possible spread of coronavirus in Pakistan.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) had said that there may have been limited human-to-human transmission of the new coronavirus in China within families, and it is possible there could be a wider outbreak.
