Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, on Thursday told the Sindh Assembly that Inspector General of Police (IGP) has lost the provincial cabinet's trust and "people of Sindh have rejected IG".

Replying to a call attention notice placed by PTI's Khurrum Sher Zaman Khan on the IGP issue, Chief Minister Sindh alleged the police chief-Kaleem Imam-for active in a political role and cronyism, besides calling him an 'inefficient' officer. He made it clear to the house that "In this province only those officers will work who follow our [PPP government] policies".

He said the Sindh cabinet has showed no-confidence on the IGP and the people of Sindh have rejected him. Unfolding a charge sheet against the IGP, Murad said that sometime back a newsman was given access to a terrorist, which aimed to defame him. He claimed that Sindh government came to know in October last year through a post that the police was going to implicate the PPP elected representatives in concocted cases.

"An SSP is appointed between consultation of Chief Minister Sindh and IGP," he told the house, saying that police chief had recommended, the 'bad officer' SSP, Rizwan for posting, which he turned down. According to a report by Additional Inspector General, Rizwan is not a 'good officer'.. Murad said, "Sindh Energy Minister, Imtiaz Shaikh had launched several complaints with the SSP of the law and order situation in Shikarpur but all went unheard.

The police chief never took action against his 'blue-eyed' SSP, he said and criticised the SSP for booking 22 people under Anti-Terrorism Law. He again claimed that SSP Rizwan implicated the provincial ministers in 'serious' cases, saying that "if the sitting legislators or SSP is wrong should be punished". He said that he had talked to the prime minister to replace the incumbent IGP, which he had agreed to. "The IGP has become a party and we will not let the officials to take part in politics," he added.
