Removal of illegal constructions from parks: 'Contempt of court' petition filed in SC
A "contempt of court" petition was filed on Monday in Supreme Court (SC), Karachi Registry against the non-implementation of its orders by Sindh and city authorities to remove the illegal constructions in the parks of the city.
Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi, a social activist field the petition in Karachi Registry of apex court, in which furnished the names of city's parks where illegal constructions were made and were not removed in accordance with the orders of SC.
Petitioner made various authorities of Sindh and Ciy Governments, who didn't complied with earlier orders of the court in "contempt of court" petition. Senior Member Board of Revenue Sindh Qazi Shahid Pervez, Secretary Local Government Sindh Roshan Ali Sheikh, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shahwani and others have been made respondents in the petition.
Petitioner prayed the court to order the relevant authorities to remove these illegal constructions from city parks and appear in persons in the court along with the compliance report of court orders.
Petitioner submitted that relevant departments failed to discharge their duties and requested the court to initiate the "contempt of court" proceedings against them. Petitioner also pleaded to put their names in ECL.
