Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Monday said the KMC's development works could not be completed on time due to delay in the release of funds from the Sindh government.
Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar inspected the road construction and other development works in the UC 34, Korangi. Citizens are facing hardships due to dilapidated civic infrastructure of the metropolis. He said under the rules no money could be spent in Karachi without obtaining the approval of elected council of KMC.
Deputy Mayor Arshad Hasan, MPA Ghulam Jilani, Vice Chairman DMC Korangi Ahmer Ali, Chairman works committee Hasan Naqvi and other elected representatives and officers were also present on this occasion.
Mayor said development works in this area being carried out with a cost of Rs20 million which include the 1.5km long road construction, two culverts on drain and other works. He said the drain will also be cleaned and side walls will be constructed.
He said this area has been suffering due to poor supply of water for the last 25 years and the roads and drains were also in a very bad condition.
He said that Karachi has three main problems including water, sewerage and transport for which he has submitted written requests to the Chief Minister Sindh but nothing done so far. He said that he has also informed the prime minister about these issues.
