Federal cabinet likely to discuss Sindh government-IGP tiff today

The federal cabinet, which is scheduled to meet today (Tuesday) under Prime Minister Imran Khan, will take up 15-point agenda items including amendments to the President's and Prime Minister's Salary, Allowances and Privileges Acts 1975.

The federal cabinet, which is scheduled to meet today (Tuesday) under Prime Minister Imran Khan, will take up 15-point agenda items including amendments to the President's and Prime Minister's Salary, Allowances and Privileges Acts 1975.

The cabinet will discuss the request of the provincial government of Sindh regarding posting and transfer of Inspector General of Police Sindh Kaleem Imam. Last week, the Sindh government wrote a letter to the Establishment Division, seeking the transfer of Imam and his replacement.

The cabinet will also discuss the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for importing wheat without regulatory duty on an emergency basis. It was decided that 0.3 million metric tons of wheat would be imported.

The cabinet will ratify the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) on January 8, 2020. The CCoE in its meeting had sought a detailed plan from the Ministry of Energy to overcome the shortage of energy and improve gas supplies throughout the year. The instruction was given to the Ministry of Energy after it briefed the CCoE on the current situation of demand and supply of gas/RLNG, natural gas allocation and management, average gas supplies, winter load management, indigenous gas production, supplies and consumption in different regions and LNG requirement by the SNGPL/SSGC

The federal cabinet will also discuss designating vice chairman of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).

Signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Housing and Works, Government of Pakistan, for 5 million low-cost houses is also in the agenda items.

One time permission for import of Paraxlene from India is also on the agenda. The summary was moved by Ministry of Commerce.

The cabinet will also take up a summary of Ministry of Human Rights for establishment of National Commission of the Rights of Child (NCRC).

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Division has sough approval from the cabinet in amendment to the respective acts/rules and replacement od the words "federal government' with "appropriate authority."

The cabinet will also implementation of section 27-A of Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act 1996.

The Interior Division has requested the federal cabinet to allow issuance of prohibited bore and non-prohibited bore arms licenses under Pakistan Arms Ordinance 1965.

The Aviation Division has sought nomination of directors of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIACL) Board. The federal government will also discuss progress report on institutional reforms.
