Dr. Geoffrey Shaw, Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan said that Pakistan Super League (PSL) will play a crucial role in building confidence and change the players' minds about the country.

During his visit at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) to meet Pakistan women cricket team and give his good wishes ahead of T20 world cup, starting from February 21, 2020 in Australia, he said that talks between Chairman PCB and CEO Cricket Australia were in progress about the tour of Australian cricket team to Pakistan.

He said that number of Australian cricketers coming to Pakistan to take part in the 5th edition of PSL hence this event would play a crucial role in building confidence and change the players' minds about the country.

Australian High Commissioner said: "Australia is about to become the first cricketing nation to close the gender prize money gap. At this year's T20 World Cup, Cricket Australia will top up prize money won by the women's team to deliver parity with their male counterparts," Shaw said; adding that defending champions Australia would host 10 teams and 23 matches across six cities.

He said that they were holding the final of the World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the biggest cricket stadium in the world, with a bold ambition to set a record for attendance at a women's sporting fixture and invited fans and visitors to be part of the T20 World Cup and FILLTHEMCG campaign.

The High Commissioner said, "It is a great privilege to meet the Pakistan National Women's Cricket Team. I wish the team a fantastic stay in Australia. The players will receive a very warm Australian welcome. We expect some fabulous cricket."

Commenting on the bush fire incident that took place few months ago, he said that it created devastating impact on human lives, property, environment and animals; adding that Australian government's top priority was to give emergency response for the safety of community and tourists.

For the purpose around AUS$ 2 billion has been allocated for rebuilding and AUS $50 millions for wild life restoration, he maintained.

The reception were attended by players selected for the T20 World Cup, the Chair of the Pakistan National Women's Selection Committee Urooj Mumtaz, the team's coaches and senior members of the PCB.

Meanwhile, Urooj Mumtaz thanked High Commissioner to come and encourage Pakistan women T20 squad and added whole Pakistani nation were with the people of Australia in this saddest incident of bush fire.

She hoped that Pakistan women cricket team would perform well in this mega event. Answering to a question, she said that Sana Mir had been dropped due to her poor statistics during last couple of years. The Pakistan team would depart for Australia on January 31 and will play its first match against West Indies on February 26 at Manuka Oval.
