The House Business Advisory Committee of the National Assembly chaired by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Thursday decided that ongoing session of the National Assembly would continue for 19 days (till February 17, 2020).

The committee met to discuss the business and timetable for the 19th session of the National Assembly. The agenda and ways and means to run the proceedings of the current session of the National Assembly were discussed and it was decided that the current session would continue till 17th February, 2020 and apart from government and private members business, matters of public importance would also be discussed.

The meeting unanimously decided that the House would discuss current grave situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir and pass a resolution to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

On Thursday, the first day of the session, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Malik Mohammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana and Sher Akbar Khan put on agenda a calling attention notice to invite attention of the minister for foreign affairs to a matter of public importance regarding difficulties being faced by Pakistani students in China due to coronavirus, causing grave concern amongst the public.

Other items on the agenda of the day included: a resolution moved by minister for planning, development and special initiatives to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority Ordinance, 2019 for a further period of 120 from February 02, 2020; a resolution moved by Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh seeking to extend the Tax Laws (Amendment) Ordinance 2019 for a further period of 120 days from February 03 2020; Advisor on Finance Dr Hafeez Shaikh to lay the Tax Laws (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 before the House as required by clause (2) of Article 89 of the Constitution and Farogh Naseem, Minister for Law and Justice to lay before the National Assembly the Enforcement of Women's Property Rights (Amendment) ordinance, 2019 and National Accountability (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2019; and others.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, ministers including ljaz Ahmad Shah, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and Ali Muhammad Khan, MNAs Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dreshak, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Chaudhary Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Murtaza Javed Abassi, Khurrum Dastagir Khan and Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, and senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
