No Pakistani can return from China unless they complete 14-day observation for coronavirus

• SAPM on Health said the decision not to bring back the students is also in line with the WHO regulations and recommendations.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Imran Khan on Health Dr Zafar Mirza said on Saturday that Pakistani students in China will not be repatriated until they complete the 14-day observation period.

Addressing a press conference today, the SAPM said the decision not to bring back the students is also in line with the WHO regulations and recommendations. He further said that other countries are bringing their people back, but China has said it is not right to evacuate people as per public health safety protocol.

He reiterated that no case of coronavirus has yet been confirmed in the country. He continued that some four to five people have been kept under observation but they have not tested positive for coronovirus.

Mirza said that Pakistan has complete faith in China’s government, adding that the steps they are taking are to make safer for their own people, foreigners in their country and the rest of the world.

He revealed Pakistan will be receiving the kits needed to confirm or rule out coronavirus cases tonight.
