Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday created another controversy by claiming that senior PML-N leader Khawaja Asif considers himself as candidate for the 'new Prime Minister'. The minister stated this during a debate in National Assembly on the prevailing situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
"Khawaja Asif who is a candidate for the new Prime Minister...but he must keep in mind that Imran Khan is the Prime Minister and he will remain to be [till completion of the tenure of PTI government]," Fawad Chaudhry said while responding to Asif's criticism on the government during his speech the other day.
Asif was not present at the moment when Fawad Chaudhry was making the statement.
However, Asif later joined the proceeding, but did not bother to reply.
The minister's comments came in wake of speculations over the past many weeks of an alleged 'change' amid reservations of the coalition partners including Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and others over the PTI government's failure to honor the written agreements signed with them prior to joining the coalition.
