Senate Functional Committee on Devolution on Tuesday approved a special report of the Senate Functional Committee on Devolution. The meeting chaired by Senator Moula Bux Chandio, expressed displeasure over the continuous absence of the Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination from the meetings of the Committee in which the Committee was continuously deliberating on important issues relating to devolution process.
Chairman of the committee was of the view that Parliamentary Committees are extension of the Parliament and their role is crucial in promoting good governance and transparency.
He said the government should accord high importance to the committee system so that matters concerning the public could be deliberated thoroughly. Members of the committee also expressed their concern over the absence of the Minister concerned from all the meetings of the committee.
Later, the committee discussed in detail various aspects of the special report of the functional committee and approved it after detailed deliberation.
