The Punjab police deployed over 2,000 police personnel in the provincial capital to ensure foolproof security during the Kashmir Day on Wednesday.
"To ensure the lives and properties of the citizens, we have deputed over 2,000 cops including eight SPs, 16 DSPs, 39 inspectors and 245 upper-subordinates in the city during the Kashmir Day," said Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Rai Babar Saeed while talking to the media during his visit to Faisal Chowk to review security arrangements.
He said that these personnel performed duty on different events including rallies and seminars on Kashmir Day. He added that all the deputed police officials were on high alert and they provided maximum security to the participants of all the events. The security plan was chalked out with the assistance of the City District Government, he added.
Prior to the Kashmir Day, the DIG said they had conducted search and sweep operations in different areas of the city to thwart any possible nefarious designs of anti-social elements.
