(Karachi) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed laid the foundation stone of Sindh Judicial Academy’s City Campus, media reported on Friday.

Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Gulzar said the institution will play a key role in providing best training to the judges. He added, “It is a pleasure for me to visit the Sindh Judicial Academy.”

Justice Gulzar maintained the academy will benefit the judiciary. “I hope the academy will soon turn into a university,” the CJP remarked.

He said the judicial academy will become a big institution in which judges will be trained.

The Sindh Judicial Academy was established in May 1992 under a resolution of High Court of Sindh. In 1993, the Sindh Judicial Academy Ordinance, 1993 was promulgated to provide legal cover for its working and functions.

Later in 1994, Sindh Assembly repealed the Ordinance by the Sindh Judicial Academy Act, 1993 which was promulgated on March 7, 1993.

The Sindh Judicial Acedemy not only provides training to judges and law officers but it also provides information on legal and constitutional research. Besides, it also publishes journals, research papers and reports for improvement in the judicial system.
