The Punjab government is going to setup a 'Model Market' with a sum of Rs 5 billion at Lakhodero, in the provincial metropolis where processing facilities of the agricultural commodities will also be provided through modern machinery.
The construction is underway and this market will prove to be excellent market for the farmers.
Punjab Agriculture Minister Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial disclosed this while speaking at a meeting at the Agriculture House, here on Friday.
Chairman PAMRA Naveed Anwar Bhinder, Director General PAMRA Hafiz Shaukat, Director (E&M) Liaquat Ali Raza, Chief Advisor Media Minister for Agriculture Punjab Shahid Qadir and other senior officers participated in the meeting.
He further said that standard cleaning system is being introduced in the model markets throughout the province. In these markets, massive plantation is being done and all arrangements have been made to avoid illegal encroachments. The schedule of market fees, commissions and daily rates has been allocated in clear places in these model markets.
Transparency has been made mandatory and rates are being adjusted on a daily basis.
He further said that the protection of the rights of all stakeholders is a top priority and consolidated consultation will further improve the market system in the province, said Langrial.
