Pakistan on Monday summoned top Indian diplomat and lodged a strong protest over the recent ceasefire violations by the Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC).

"Indian Charge d'Affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned by Director General, south Asia and SAARC Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, Monday, to register Pakistan's strong protest at the ceasefire violations by Indian occupation forces along the LoC in Jabbar, Sandhara, Sumbal Gali and Dabsi villages of Kotli District on 9 February 2020, resulting in serious injuries to 10 innocent civilians including children and women," the Foreign Office said.

Due to the indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forces, it stated that 10 civilians suffered serious injuries: including Muhammad Shabbir son of Sakhi Muhammad, Jamila Bibi daughter of Muhammad Din, Muhammad Amin son of Muhammad Din, Muhammad Yasin, Muhammad Safin son of Muhammad Yasin in Jabbar Village.

In Sandhara village, it stated, Muhammad Haleem son of Jamal Din, Muhammad Zeeshan son of Muhammad Haleem and Muhammad Junaid son of Muhammad Haleem sustained serious injuries.

While in Sumbal Gali village, a lady Zubaida Bibi wife of Muhammad Zaheer and in Dabsi Village Zaheer son of Naqeeb Ullah also sustained injuries.

Condemning the targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces, the DG south Asia and SAARC underscored that such senseless Indian acts, in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding and complete disregard for international human rights and international norms, further vitiate the tense atmosphere along the LoC and were a threat to regional peace and security.

He added that by raising tensions along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB), India could not divert attention from the worsening human rights situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K).
