Taxation matters: Haroon gives presentation to PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday consulted Former Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan on Federal Board of Revenue's (FBR's) performance. It is learnt that the Haroon Ahktar gave a detailed presentation to the PM and his economic team on measures to improve revenue collection, tax reforms/restructuring of the Board and overall performance of the FBR during the current fiscal year.

During the meeting, sources confirmed that the Prime inister asked Haroon Akhtar to suggest names for new Chairman FBR in case Shabbar Zaidi is unable to continue as Chairman FBR due to his health issues.

Haroon Akhtar gave presentation to Prime Minister on FBR issues on the basis of his experience and knowledge as former special assistant on revenue.

The meeting was held at the PM House and attended by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Investment, Industries and Textile, Abdul Razak Dawood.

When contacted, Shabbar Zaidi told Business Recorder, "Not well. Got better but it has again worsened. Inshallah will be better again".
