The Karachi Port handled 113,942 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,295 tonnes of import cargo and 47,647 tonnes of export cargo including 6,573 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 66,295 tonnes comprised of 43,864 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,063 tonnes of bulk cargo and 17,367 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 47,647 tonnes comprised of 31,810 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,637 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,573 containers comprising of 3,967 containers of import and 2,606 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 505 of 20's and 1,367 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 363 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 785 of 20's and 595 of 40's loaded containers while 163 of 20's and 234 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely Seattle-C, Diyala and CSCL Africa carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels CMA CGM Rabelais, Botany Bay, Wan Hai-611, MP The Mcginest and Silver Millie carrying containers and tanker respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely CMA CGM Rabelais and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical expected to sail on Tuesday. There are two vessels viz. Hyundai New York and Evgenia-K carrying containers and steel respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while three more vessels viz. Cosco Belgium, CMA CGM Litani and Bulk Paraiso carrying containers and clinkers respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 183,647 tonnes comprising of 131,350 tonnes of import cargo and 52,297 tonnes of export cargo including 4,868 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 131,350 tonnes includes 27,650 tonnes of coal; 12,500 tonnes of palm oil; 41,458 tonnes of LNG and 49,742 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 52,297 tonnes includes 5,654 tonnes of rice; 3,893 tonnes of cement and 42,750 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,868 containers comprising of 2,618 containers import and 2,250 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely MSC Domitille carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Mariana, Anasa and IVY Delta carrying containers, rice and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, coal, soyabean, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. Morgen Stand-1, Concarm, IVS Hirone, BW Rhine, Georgia-M, Asphalt-II, Stena Important, Asia Liberty and Sloman Hebe carrying project cargo, coal, diesel oil, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Maersk Sentosa, MSC Valencia, Morgen Stand-1 and Concarm carrying containers, project cargo and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There are two ships namely Maersk Sentosa and MSC Valency carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
