The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) has prepared a plan to build 1.37 million houses of three and five marlas in different cities of the province in next three years.
The PHATA will construct 170,000 houses whereas remaining 1.2 million houses would be completed under private partnership. Chief Secretary Punjab Azam Suleman Khan was briefed on Wednesday at Civil Secretariat during a meeting held to review pace of work on Naya Pakistan Housing Programme in the province.
The process of land acquisition in Kala Shah Kaku and Gujranwala after Renala Khurd was also discussed during the meeting. Some 304 acres of land will be acquired Gujranwala region for this purpose.
Capacity of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) will also be enhanced being the main executing agency of the project. The Chief Secretary said the Punjab government is giving priority to construction of houses for low-income people. He also issued directions to speed up work on the project. Chairman Taskforce on Housing Yaqoob Tahir Izhar, Vice-Chairman LDA SM Imran, administrative secretaries of housing and finance department and commissioner Lahore were also present on the occasion.
