KSE-100 Index cheerless: BRIndex100 flat

Pakistan Stock Exchange Monday witnessed a mixed trend as investors remained on the sidelines due to concerns over economic and geo-political issues.

BRIndex100 closed at 4,206.82 points, up 1.97 points or 0.05 percent. BRIndex100 touched intraday high of 4,238.39 and intraday low of 4,178.86 points. Volumes stood at 92.006 million shares.

BRIndex30 lost 123.29 points or 0.57 percent to close at 21,444.88 points with a turnover of 65.794 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index gained 33.67 points or 0.08 percent to close at 40,276.93 points. Trading activity remained extremely low as daily volumes on the ready counter decreased to 99.965 million shares as compared to 117.597 million shares traded last Friday.

Foreign investors remained net sellers of shares worth $1.3 million. The market capitalization declined by Rs 3 billion to Rs 7.560 trillion. Out of total 327 active scrips, 169 closed in negative, 134 in positive while the value of 24 stocks remained unchanged.

Unity Foods was the volume leader with 16.257 million shares. It gained Re 0.75 to close at Rs 13.82 followed by DG Khan Cement that declined by Rs 1.52 to close at Rs 66.59 with 9.133 million shares.

Colgate Palmolive and Service Ind. Limited were the top gainers with Rs 50.00 and Rs 39.05, respectively to close at Rs 2,150.00 and Rs 970.67. Bata Pak and Sapphire Fiber were the top losers with Rs 49.80 and Rs 46.99, respectively to close at Rs 1,800.00 and Rs 715.01.

BR Automobile Assembler Index increased by 53.12 points or 0.93 percent to close at 5,795.30 points with total turnover of 1.118 million shares.

BR Cement Index lost 24.19 points or 0.64 percent to close at 3,751.44 points with 15.374 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index surged by 62.38 points or 0.64 percent to close at 9,779.53 points with 11.999 million shares.

BR Power Generation and Distribution Index decreased by 55.68 points or 1.0 percent to close at 5,520.47 points with 5.816 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index closed at 4,438.60 points, down 3.75 points or 0.08 percent with 11.555 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index inched up by 12.95 points or 1.28 percent to close at 1,021.00 points with 8.222 million shares.

Danish Ladhani at JS Global Capital said that Pakistan equities closed flat with the KSE-100 Index just gaining 33 points, closing at 40,277 levels. The trading session saw value buying ahead of major company results. EFERT (down 1.0 percent) in the Fertilizer sector announced its consolidated EPS of Rs 12.34 against Rs 13.04 in the same period last year with a cash payout of Rs 2/share.

HBL (up 4.2 percent), PSO (up 1.7 percent), KAPCO (up 6.5 percent) and POL (up 0.4 percent) cumulatively contributed plus 138 points towards the positive index close.
