Pakistan Embassy officials visit Pakistani students in Wuhan

A two-member special task force from Pakistan Embassy Beijing met Pakistani students in Wuhan, China from different universities to get first- hand information on their well- being and safety amids the coronavirus outbreak. 

According to a statement by the Foreign Office (FO) issued on Tuesday, the task force was allowed to meet after the Chinese authorities granted Pakistan's special request. The task force which is permanently deployed in Wuhan, the epicenter of the deadly disease outbreak, visited Pakistani students in four universities.

The officials Third Secretary Junaid and Education Attaché Suleman, also met the administration to ensure precautionary measures were being taken to protect the students. "All the students in the universities visited today are safe, healthy and well looked after," the FO statement read.

Chinese government took measures to ensure the provision of basic amenities to Pakistani students including food and water availability; regular medical checkup; spray of disinfectant in students’ dormitories and residential places. Health checks like twice daily monitoring of body temperatures, provision of protective masks and gloves, the statement added.

The three Pakistani students at Guangzhou city and one in Wuhan who were infected by the coronavirus, have fully been recovered and discharged from the hospitals. As of Monday, the Chinese government said a total of 72,436 people are confirmed to have had the deadly desease while 1,868 people have died.
