Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim
The Karachi Port handled 90,082 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,518 tonnes of import cargo and 31,564 tonnes of export cargo including 3,572 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 58,518 tonnes comprised of 19,554 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,883 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,485 tonnes of soyabean meal; 9,223 tonnes of petcock and 22,373 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 31,564 tonnes comprised of 15,514 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of bulk cargo and 15,800 tonnes of mill scale. As many as 3,572 containers comprising of 1,581 containers of import and 1,991 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 277 of 20's and 547 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 105 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 288 of 20's and 355 of 40's loaded containers while 553 of 20's and 220 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Hyundai Loyalty, GSL Mante, Ever Deluxe, Ginga Saker and DA Cai Yun carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels CMA CGM Lamartine, MSC Marianna and Sunrise carrying containers and tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely CMA CGM Lamartine and Ocean Wit carrying containers and clinker respectively expected to sail on Tuesday. There are five vessels viz. Cosco Rotterdam, Coral Star, Kota Gunawan, Liana and Sea Elegant carrying containers and tankers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while seven more vessels viz. GSL Eleni, Jeju Island, Athenian, MT Karachi, Ocean Drover, Bao Glory and Ping An Song carrying containers, tanker, live stock and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
A cargo volume of 187,466 tonnes comprising of 155,926 tonnes of import cargo and 31,540 tonnes of export cargo including 4,195 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 155,926 tonnes includes 20,000 tonnes of coal; 35,455 tonnes of steel coil; 7,790 tonnes of palm oil; 10,492 tonnes of mogas; 379 tonnes of soyabean; 30,766 tonnes of LNG; 379 tonnes of project cargo' 2,500 tonnes of chemical and 48,165 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,540 tonnes includes 31,540 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,195 containers comprising of 2,535 containers import and 1,660 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely MSC Cordoba, Kobe Star and Han Xin carrying containers, steel coil and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Mehdi, Limnionas and Salaris carrying containers. soyabean and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. SM Challeston, Global Striker, Bao Grand, Tyana, Astakos, Serene Amelia, St Petri, Sauger, Sterling, Ocean Flower, Felcon, Chemroute Sun and Asia Liberty carrying containers, steel coil, soyabean, coal, mogas, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Maersk Kensington, SM Charleston, Global Striker, Bao Grand and Astakos carrying containers, steel coil and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Kensington carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
