Seminar on 'BRB Earthquake Protection System' held

Pakistan LSF Construction Association has organized a seminar on BRB Earthquake Protection System at Usman Institute of Technology Karachi here on Monday night. The seminar was attended by members from industry and academia.

The newly established forum discussed the possibilities to help out Naya Pakistan Housing Program with Affordable and sustainable new technologies to support housing sector needs. Abdul Malik, Director International Marketing and Sales of Steel Canada Toronto apprised about the CanBrace BRB Earthquake Protection System. This BRB System was tests at NEDUET under the supervision of Professor Dr Muhammad Masood Rafi, Chairman Earth Quake Engineering NEDUET few years back. CanBrace is a new technology for protection of RC as well as Steel structures from Earthquakes. The system has already been tested at NED's Seismic Laboratory as well in Canada, China and Bangladesh with phenomenal results.

Abdul Malik along with Canadian Trade Commissioner and Pakistan LSF Construction Association team also met the Chairman Task Force; Prime Minister's Naya Pakistan Housing Program and briefed him about the importance of BRB System. Malik offer his services to produce this system indigenously to lower its cost, create employment opportunities and possibility to export from Pakistan.

Pakistan's topography being on the seismic train of activity needed attention of regulatory authorities.
