HBL PSL5 opening ceremony underway in Karachi

• Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United will face each other in the opening game at the National Stadium.
• Renowned artists like Abrar-ul-Haq, Aima Baig, Abu Mohammad, Fareed Ayaz, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sajjad Ali Sanam Marvi and other will perform in the opening ceremony.

With thousands of fans in the stadium are on the edge of their seats to celebrate the return of Pakistan’s biggest sports event ‘HBL PSL 5’ in the country, the inaugural ceremony of much-awaited event has enthralled spectators across the globe.

The world renowned artists like Abrar-ul-Haq, Aima Baig, Abu Mohammad, Fareed Ayaz, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sajjad Ali, Sanam Marvi and rock band Soch have embellished the ceremony with their breath-taking performances, while Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Haroon and Asim Azhar have performed HBL PSL 2020’s anthem Tayyar Hain.

The ceremony, which was approximately an hour long, kicked off after the arrival of CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah at around 7pm. The glittery ceremony has also included riveting acts and a spectacular fireworks show.

Six teams have participated in the grand tournament – Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultan, and Quetta Gladiators. Total 34 matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan.

The highly anticipated month-long tournament has started from February 20 at National Stadium Karachi and will conclude on March 17, 2020 at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore where final will be played.

As many as 350 artists have performed in the opening ceremony of the HBL PSL 2020 held at Karachi’s National Stadium today.
