The much anticipated opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 finally kicked off at National Stadium Karachi, presenting a perfect start for the T20 league of Pakistan.
The star-studded ceremony featured music performances by legendary singers, alongside stunts by dance groups and a display of the fireworks that made the stadium an indulgence for the eyes.
The fifth edition of PSL began with the national anthem and then followed a top performance by renowned artists like Abrar-ul-Haq, Aima Baig, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sajjad Ali, Sanam Marvi and rock band Soch embellished the ceremony with their breath-taking performances, while Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Haroon and Asim Azhar concluded the festivities with an explosive performance of the PSL 2020 anthem ‘Tayyar Hain’.
The glittery ceremony, which was held before the opening match of the tournament between defending champions Quetta Gladiators and two-time champion Islamabad United, also included riveting acts and a spectacular fireworks show.
The series of matches will bring together the six teams comprising national and international ace cricketers. The 34-match tournament will be the biggest cricket tournament to take place in Pakistan after the Asia Cup in 2008.
The 34 matches of the T20 tournament will be played in four international venues — Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan. The six-team tournament will be held across four venues with Karachi staging nine matches, Lahore 14 matches, Rawalpindi eight and Multan three matches.
