The Karachi Port handled 112,962 tonnes of cargo comprising 70,012 tonnes of import cargo and 42,950 tonnes of export cargo including 8,037 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 70,012 tonnes comprised of 54,511 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,814 tonnes of bulk cargo; 517 cattle; 6,920 tonnes of petcock and 5,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 42,950 tonnes comprised of 38,490 tonnes of containerised cargo; 160 tonnes of bulk cargo and 4,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,037 containers comprising of 4,134 containers of import and 3,903 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 897 of 20's and 1,380 of 40's loaded while 17 of 20's and 230 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 707 of 20's and 927 of 40's loaded containers while 196 of 20's and 573 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Kota Gunawan, MSC Marianna, Sea Elegant, Sunrise, Ocean Drover and Ping An Song carrying containers, tanker, mogas, carrier and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels GSL Eleni, Polo, Athenian, Al-Salam-II, Senanur Cebi and Bao Glory carrying containers, crude oil, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are five ships namely GSL Eleni, Coral Star, Athenian, Al-Salam-II and Hercules carrying containers, crude oil and meal respectively expected to sail on Thursday.

There are seven vessels viz. Nordspring, MOL Grandeur, JE JU Island, MT Karachi, BW Amazon and Bao Grand carrying containers, crude oil, mogas, clinker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while two more vessels viz. MT Shalamar and ES Mercury carrying crude oil and talcum powder respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 137,928 tonnes comprising of 84,082 tonnes of import cargo and 53,846 tonnes of export cargo including 2,516 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 84,082 tonnes includes 32,310 tonnes of coal; 11,478 tonnes of steel coil; 4,511 tonnes of palm oil; 7,861 tonnes of mogas; 6,000 tonnes of chemical; 471 tonnes of LNG and 21,451 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 53,846 tonnes includes 53,846 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,516 containers comprising of 1,479 containers import and 1,037 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were three ships namely Limnionas, Jin Han and Georgia-M carrying soyabean, coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely MOL Grandeur, Maersk Kensington, SM Charleston, Bow Grand and Dae Won carrying containers, steel coil and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen vessels viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Smart Lisa, Yanze Venus, Tyana, Serene Amelia, African Tern, Jay, Kobe Star, St. Petri, Sauger, Gulf Mist, Clipper Eos, Kazak, Sterling, Ocean Flower, Felcon and Asia Liberty carrying containers, steel coil, general cargo, soyabean, coal, cement, LPG, mogas, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were nine ships viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Maersk Bentonville, Smile Lady, Kobe Star, Jay, Tyana, Gulf Mist, Kazak and Sterling carrying containers, cement, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were three ships namely Jin Hao, Georgia-M and Limnionas carrying coal, chemical and soyabean respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely GSL Eleni carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
