Handing over KCR to Sindh government: SC asks Rlys Secy to furnish Ecnec decision by February 21
Secretary Railway is required to furnish the decision of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) related to handing over the operation and running of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) to Sindh Government in Supreme Court (SC) on February 21, 2020.
According a written order of the SC in a case pertaining to revival of KCR at Karachi Registry, three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed, extensively heard the matter regarding the Karachi Circular Trains so also Karachi Local Trains.
During the course of hearing the Secretary Railways made a statement that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (the ECNEC) took a decision of handing over the operation and running of the Karachi Circular Trains and Local Trains to the Provincial Government of Sindh. The court asked him to place before it this decision of the ECNEC but he was unable to show the same.
The court ordered that the Secretary Railways shall ensure filling of the said decision of ECNEC till February 21, 2020 when the court would resume the hearing on the case in Karachi Registry.
