The Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP), Anwar Mansoor Khan, not only lost his job as top law officer of the country, but also offered an unconditional apology to the apex court for his "contemptuous" remarks against the judges hearing the Justice Faez Isa case.
A day after his resignation after his remarks against the apex court judges, Khan submitted a brief apology to the apex court on Friday, saying he "can't even think of causing any adverse comment as to the honour, honesty and integrity of the court."
In a statement submitted to the court, a copy of which is available with Business Recorder, Khan said: "I'm sorry and withdraw my statement made on February 18, 2020 and unconditionally apologise for having said all this."
"I have the highest regard and respect for the court," reads the apology. He had submitted his resignation a day after levelling allegations against some members of the Supreme Court bench hearing petitions challenging the filing of a presidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa. His remarks were subsequently expunged by the court.
