Wish granted! Darren Sammy to be given honorary citizenship on March 23
- He is currently in Pakistan to participate in PSL5, where he is leading Peshwar Zalmi.
- Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi had put forth request to the president to grant Sammy honorary citizenship.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday that West Indian star and Captain of Peshawar Zalmi, Darren Sammy, will be conferred honorary citizenship of Pakistan on March 23.
In a tweet from PCB Media, the board announced that President Dr Arif Alvi will confer the highest civilian award and honorary citizenship to the skipper. He is being conferred the honorary citizenship 'for his invaluable contribution to cricket in Pakistan'.

Earlier, Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi had said that they had put forth a request before the president to grant honorary citizenship of Pakistan to Darren. The West Indies all rounder has been part of the Pakistan Super League since the first edition in 2016 and has quickly become a favorite of the nation.
