The Karachi Port handled 94,732 tonnes of cargo comprising 35,379 tonnes of import cargo and 59,353 tonnes of export cargo including 4,362 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 35,379 tonnes comprised of 20,715 tonnes of containerised cargo; 206 tonnes of bulk cargo and 14,458 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 59,353 tonnes comprised of 41,699 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,270 tonnes of clinker; 7,384 tonnes of talcum lumps and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,362 containers comprising of 1,361 containers of import and 3,001 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 551 of 20's and 373 of 40's loaded while 06 of 20's and 29 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 742 of 20's and 1,050 of 40's loaded containers while 07 of 20's and 76 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Berlin Express, Senanur Cebi and Violet Ace carrying containers, clinker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Charlotte Schulte, MT Karachi and Violet Ace carrying containers, tanker and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Charlotte Schulte carrying containers expected to sail on Wednesday while two more ships namely MT Khairpur and Bao Grand carrying tanker and clinker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There are four vessels viz. Edison, Al Mahboobah, Sea Charming and Jin Zhou Hai carrying containers, base oil, chemical and clinker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four more vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Grace, Chemtrans Ocean and Liberty Peace carrying containers, clinker, mogas and vehicles respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.
