China will provide sustainable cooperation to Plant Protection of Pakistan to prevent locust attack on crops in the country. The Chinese cooperation will include the expertise and technology for locust prevention in Pakistan, the members of visiting Chinese expert delegation said this while briefing the local media here on Thursday.

They said that Chinese experts will help the local authorities to formulate complete desert locust control programme. They said that China will provide the country the non-toxic pesticide according to needs of Pakistan as well as provide vehicles to spray the affected fields.

They said China will work to provide technical teams to work in field with Pakistanis and would like to provide surveillance equipments to establish more accurate and reliable monitoring system, for which Chinese experts are already working.

"We are willing to provide sustainable training programme and modern applications to apply in desert to control locust with low altitude aircrafts," Chinese experts said.

They said that the Chinese government also supports companies to cooperate with Pakistan to provide aircrafts. They said that they are willing to provide biological pesticide for locust prevention before they fly.

They said that Pakistan sought the help from China on government level and in the first phase field surveys are being conducted. "We have visited Tharparkar and will visit different areas of Balochistan to know the ground realities," they said. They said that coordination with Sindh Agriculture Department has been made whose reports suggest that vast areas have been affected by locust attack.

The delegation comprised Chinese experts including Zhang Long, Xu Yubo, Wang Fengle and Zhn Jingquan. The delegation left for Quetta to examine different affected areas of Balochistan. The Chinese Consul General in Karachi Li Bijian also spoke on this occasion and said that the Chinese government is ready to provide all possible support to Pakistani authorities to control locust attacks in the country.
