President Dr Arif Alvi said that Pakistan wanted peace and stability in the region but it would never compromise on the issue of Kashmir. Addressing a seminar "Radical India versus responsible Pakistan" on Thursday, the president said that, "we will stand by the Kashmiri people and will never abandon them."

He said that Kashmir was the unfinished agenda of the partition. Alvi warned India not to carry out any false flag operation against Pakistan. The president regretted that Pakistan's every effort for peace vanished into thin air, and the belligerent India did not reciprocate to Pakistan's gestures of peace.

He said, "We are proud of our armed forces, which befittingly responded to the Indian aggression on 26th February last year." The president said despite having limited resources we have better defence capability than that of India. He congratulated the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and the army for defeating terrorism and defending borders of the motherland.

Alvi said Pakistan was rising with better human rights situation, successful operation against terrorism and improving economy. He said Pakistan was a responsible state and it must be a voice for every minority in the world. The president said minorities including Muslims, Sikhs and Christians were being treated with discrimination in India.

He said there was a problem in India regarding minorities' rights and the international community must pressure the country for ensuring due rights to minorities. Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning Moeed Yusuf said, "We are a responsible nation and demonstrated restraint last year but, our resolve to respond to misadventure remains."

He said Pakistan was a peace-loving country and desirous of peace in the region as well. Yusuf said Islamabad would continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris for realization of their just right to self-determination.
