The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) with the assistance of Punjab police is going to improve E-challan system besides devising effective strategies for preventing traffic accidents on highways. Presiding over a meeting with all senior traffic police officers at the PHP Headquarters here on Friday, Additional IG PHP Zafar Iqbal Awan disclosed that they have decided to make joint arrangements for the facilitation of commuters on all highways with the assistance of the Punjab police.
Prominent among the participants of the meeting were SSP Traffic Headquarters Shaista Nadeem, DIG Traffic Punjab Riaz Nazir Gara and DIG Motorways Arslan Malik besides other senior officers.
"Under the initiative, the E-challan system will also be improved on the highways which would reduce the ratio of traffic accidents. For the improvement of Punjab Traffic Management System (PTMS) and the convenience of the people, the National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP), PHP and Punjab Traffic Police will continue measures so that the commuters could be protected from accidents, theft, robbery or any other threats during travel," said Zafar Iqbal.
