Popular writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar has once again came under the wrath of netizens after he cursed a woman on live television.
Appearing on Neo TV, the Meray Pass Tum Ho writer was asked about the upcoming 'Aurat March'. The writer proceeded to say that when the court has barred usage of slogans like Mera jism, Meri marzi (My body, my choice), then it hurts him deeply to see Marvi Sirmed use these slogans.
Sirmed, who too was a part of the panel interupted him by chanting 'Mera jism, Meri marzi' and kept on repeating it. In response, Rehman got furious and shouted at her to 'not to interrupt him' and started abusing her.
"Tere jism men hai kya? (What is in your body) Don’t talk in between. Thookta nahi hai koi tere jism pe (No one would even spit on your body). Shut up you b****. Beech men nahi bolo (Don’t talk in between)," he yells at Sirmed.
The TV host instead of stopping the writer, asked Sirmed to stay quiet and speak on her turn.
If such piece of crap was a playwright in a civilized media industry, he would have been boycotted and would be reduced to ashes. But this is our beloved Islamic Republic. The misogynist abuser won't have to face any consequences. He'd be welcomed by every media house. https://t.co/2AVOe15keR

Following this, Pakistani actor Mahira Khan who has also worked with him in Sadqey Tumharay, took to Twitter and expressed her shock at the language the writer used on live television. "This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking," she tweeted.
I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking! #khalilurrehmanqamar

Khan was not the only one, prominent personalities like Shehzad Roy, Amir Liaquat, Sherry Rehman and others took to their Twitter handle to critize the writer.
What's scarier than #KhalilurRehman's temper, insecurities and mysogonistic attitude, is us who continue to encourage and engage him. Who cares if you're a good writer. You're a vile human being. Who speaks like that? What gives u the right to pass judgment like that? #Shameful

Don't understand the problem so many are having with #MeraJismMeriMarzi"-Mera jism meri marzi nahi toh kis ki marzi ho gi?? "My body is mine" is a critical component of the Life Skills Based Education classes we teach to help children protect themselves from abuse & harassment

There is no justification for this, you are calling a lady bitch on live show saying tumhare jism ko dekhta kaun hai ? tumhare jism main hai kya - this man is shit, I wish the host should hv slapped him hard !!! #khalilurrehmanqamar
I feel sad for his wife daughter and mother !

#MeraJismMeriMarzi means opposing:
rape
sexual harassment
child marriage
physical abuse
lack of healthcare
domestic violence
human trafficking
bonded labour/slavery
Opposing this statement means perpetuating a culture that produces all of the above.#khalilurrehmanqamar

Will scream #MeraJismMeriMarzi till I can’t scream anymore because millions of women in this country are subjected to pregnancies they had NO input in. None. Our bodies are not incubators.

#MeraJismMeriMarzi is about bodily integrity. It is about protection & prevention from sexual harassment, rape, child marriage, child sexual abuse, swara, watta satta.
Only a sick mind will see perversion in claiming ones ownership of body.#AuratMarch2020 #MeraJismMeriMarzi

This guy going offensively mental was expected. More intriguing though is how the anchor kept shutting Marvi up instead of him. https://t.co/J0ckAhvvqn
