Sindh govt, PCB chalk out strategy to avert coronavirus threats during HBL PSL matches in Karachi

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday contacted Sindh government to prepare a strategy in order to tackle coronavirus threats during remaining matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five matches in Karachi.

The provincial capital of Sindh is scheduled to host five matches of the tournament at National Stadium from March 12, while eliminators and final of the league are set to take place in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

During the conversation between Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani and PCB’s Zakir Khan, it was decided that screening machines will be installed at all entrance gates of the National Stadium, while medical teams will also be performing duties along with police officials at all entrance and exit points of the stadium.

Furthermore, the provincial government has advised that people who recently visited Iran and aren’t feeling well should avoid visiting the stadium.

The government has also contacted a private soap making company, which will provide about 200 pieces for the games in Karachi. Sanitizers will also be installed across the stadium for spectators.

Moreover, the Sindh government has directed spectators to take precautionary measures during the matches.

On March 02, Daily Business Recorder highlighted the negligence of concerned authorities in order to take precautionary measures to avoid coronavirus threat during HBL PSL 2020 matches. Now commissioner Karachi has taken notice and announced to ensure thermal scanning and install both hand sanitizing for spectators.

It must be noted that the Sindh government had confirmed two coronavirus cases in Karachi thus far and both are recovering rapidly.
