Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday telephoned his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif and thanked him for speaking up against the organised violence against Muslims in India, the Foreign Office said.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui, Qureshi had a telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister Zarif in which the two sides agreed for a joint and coordinated effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
She said that Foreign Minister Qureshi assured an all out support from Pakistan to Iran to cope with the spread of the coronavirus. Qureshi also expressed condolences with his Iranian counterpart over the loss of precious lives due to the virus. The spokesperson said that Qureshi thanked Zarif for speaking up against the organised violence against Muslims in India.
Zarif had earlier through a tweet condemned the organised violence against Indian Muslims, which led to summoning of Iranian ambassador in New Delhi by the Modi government.
