The Karachi Port handled 94,649 tonnes of cargo comprising 64,843 tonnes of import cargo and 29,806 tonnes of export cargo including 4,766 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 64,843 tonnes comprised of 38,211 tonnes of containerised cargo; 525 tonnes of bulk cargo and 26,107 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 29,806 tonnes comprised of 14,406 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,200 tonnes of clinker and 4,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,766 containers comprising of 3,131 containers of import and 1,635 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 581 of 20's and 1,114 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 161 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 278 of 20's and 436 of 40's loaded containers while 03 of 20's and 241 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Wieland, Coral Star, MT Quetta, Yufeng-6 and IYO carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. Express Athens, Bhairavi and Southern Dragon carrying containers, tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely Express Athens, Bhairavi and Southern Dragon carrying containers, tanker and chemical respectively expected to sail on Thursday, while another ship namely Cosco Hong Kong carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.

There is one vessel viz. Cosco Taicang carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while three more vessels viz. Northern Dedication, Smiley Lady and Karina Danica carrying containers respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 181,991 tonnes comprising of 119,177 tonnes of import cargo and 62,814 tonnes of export cargo including 4,390 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 119,177 tonnes includes 37,852 tonnes of coal; 27,528 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,748 tonnes of palm oil; 2,917 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,000 tonnes of soyabean; 1,444 tonnes of project cargo; 8,184 tonnes of LNG; 3,908 tonnes of LPG and 20,596 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 62,814 tonnes includes 62,814 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,390 containers comprising of 1,084 containers import and 3,306 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were four ships namely MOL Globe, CSAV Tyndall, Silver Munna and Da Cui Yun carrying containers, vegetable oil and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Seletar and Ocean Flower carrying containers and palm kernel respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Titus, BBC Rushmore, Santos Eagle, Africal Keto, Malhari, Sprule-2, Lusail, Rasg Humays-1, The Odosia, JM Upasan, Alcy One-T, Songa Opal, Tiger Glory, Mega-1, FCL London and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, cement, chemical, LNG, Pet cock, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were eight ships viz. CMA CGM Titus, Maersk Brooklyn, Smiley Lady, BBC Rushmore, Malhari, White Purl, Lusail and Tiger Glory carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, LNG, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There are two ships namely Maersk Brooklyn and Smiley Lady carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely Cosco Pacific carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
