The largest opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday reached out to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), the ally in federal government and both parties pledged to work for strengthening of democracy and resolution of the issues, confronting the country.

A high level delegation of PML-N led by Shahid Khaqaan Abbasi, former Prime Minister and Senior Vice President of party visited Bahadurabad Markaz of the party and held a meeting with MQM-P leadership led by the Convener of the party Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Talking to media after the meeting, Abbasi categorically stated that their visit did not mean for breaking or making any government. "We visited MQM-P Markaz on the directives of the party president Shahbaz Sharif," he said.

Abbasi said that the meeting was for strengthening of democracy and disclosed that all the reservations were kept before the MQM-P delegation regarding the situation of the country especially with regard to bad state of economy.

He said that both parties have unanimity of views regarding the national challenges and want that all political forces should sit together to overcome these challenges.

About the narrative of the party, Abbasi said that there are not differences in the party and entire leadership believes that the country should be ruled in a democratic way as per law and constitution.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the bright future of the country is linked with the real democracy and said that there is no space for artificial, feudal and dynastic democracy.

"We held talks on various issues and we have the consensus that the country should be run on democratic lines," Siddiqui stated.
