The Turkish lira strengthened a bit against the dollar on Friday after a ceasefire deal agreed by Turkey and Russia for northwest Syria's Idlib region went into effect, raising prospects that Ankara's geopolitical tensions would ease. The lira, which initially weakened in early trade, gained 0.15% to 6.0990 against the US currency by 0800 GMT, compared with a close on Thursday of 6.1080.
