A nominal increase in prices of essential kitchen items, like vegetable, live chicken/meat, pulses, fruits, sugar and cow meat etc was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
Live chicken/meat is being sold at Rs166 per kg which was selling at Rs158 per kg in the previous week, showing an increase of Rs8 per kilo in local market, the survey was noticed. It was witnessed a slight increase in prices of farm eggs as available at Rs100-110 against the price of Rs80-90 per dozen in the last week.
A manifold increase in price of onion was noticed in local market as available at Rs100 per kg which was selling at Rs70 per kg in last week. Similarly, price of garlic also touched new peak as available at Rs400-420 per kg against the price of Rs300-320 per kg in previous week in retail market.
Likewise, price of ginger is also costlier in local market as being sold within range of Rs400-450 per kg. However, tomatoes are available at reasonable price in local market which is being sold at Rs30-40 per kg. Cucumber is being available at Rs70 per kg. Green chili is being sold at Rs90-100 per kg. Carrots are being sold at Rs60-70 per kg.
According to the survey, the prices of other veggies have also sky-rocketed in retail market. For instance, arvi is being sold at Rs150 per kg, capsicum at Rs140 per kg, peas at Rs80 per kg, cauliflower at Rs70-80 per kg, cabbage at Rs60 per kg, bringle at Rs60-70 per kg.
Apple, long and round gourds are being sold within range of Rs70-80 and Rs100 per kg in local market. Bitter gourds are being available at Rs150 per kg, while lady finger was available at Rs100-120 per kg in local market. Red potatoes are being sold at Rs50-60 per kg, which was selling at Rs40 per kg in the previous week.
The survey was noticed the prices of food grains (pulses) have remained unchanged in retail market as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed as compared to preceding week. Sugar is available at Rs80-85 per kg while gram flour (baisen) price was remained unchanged in retail market as available at Rs150-160 per kg.
Dal mash price is being sold at Rs240 per kg. Likewise, it further witnessed dhoti dal is available at Rs240 per kg which was selling at Rs-190 per kg in the last week.
It added white lobiya is being sold at Rs200 per kg against the price of Rs160 per kg. Dal black (chilka) was available at Rs220 per kg against the price of Rs180 per kg, while dal green (chilka) priced at Rs200 per kg against the Rs170 per kg, showing an increase of Rs30 per kg.
Similarly, a substantial increase in price of Moonge was noticed in retail market as available Rs200 per kg, which was selling at Rs160 per kg. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs150 per kg against the price of Rs140 per kg in the previous week, whereas toota rice brown colour is being sold at Rs80 per kg and white colour at Rs70 per kg.
Chinese red bean is being sold at Rs190 per kg against the price of Rs180 per kg while Tajikistani red bean was available at Rs170 per kg, which was selling at Rs170 per kg in the last week.
Dal channa is being sold at Rs180 per kg which was selling at Rs170 per kg in the previous week. Big size white channa is being available at Rs140 per kg while small-size white channa priced at Rs10 per kg. According to the survey, prices of almost all brand and quality of cooking oil and ghee have unchanged in retail market.
