Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said on Tuesday that federal and Punjab governments are fully alert to controlling the coronavirus and ready to cope with any unwanted situation in this regard.

While addressing a seminar on "Ability Not Disability" organized by Special Education Department here at Alhamra Hall, the governor while suggesting reserved seats for special persons in the National and Provincial Assemblies said that for the first time, Special Education Policy was being introduced in Punjab.

Talking to media on this occasion, Chaudhry Sarwar said that China has deeper relations with Pakistan, and many Chinese are working in Lahore and other cities.

"It is a blessing of Allah Almighty that only 15 coronavirus affected patients have been reported so far in Pakistan, and most of them are recovering fast," said the governor.

Regarding the young doctors' protests, he said that Dr. Yasmin Rashid being a doctor herself knew the doctors' problems very well and "I hope she will resolve their issues at the earliest".

Provincial Special Education Minister Chaudhry Akhlaq Ahmed, Secretary Special Education Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari, Akhuwat Organization's CEO Dr. Amjad Saqib, Dr. Shaheen Pasha and Dr Humera Bano from Punjab University were also present.

Earlier, addressing the seminar, the governor said that more than 300 institutions were established for special children across Punjab, including Lahore, where more than 35,000 male and female students were receiving education and training, while they were also being provided with free education, books and transport facility as well as monthly stipend of Rs 800.

In Pakistan, participation of disabled person in political matters was indispensable to make them economically sound.

Addressing the seminar, Chaudhry Akhlaq Ahmed said the Punjab government had allocated Rs 1,000 million in the current fiscal year for special persons, and this allocation would be doubled in the next budget.
