The President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Masood Khan, on Tuesday, while condemning recent violence against Muslims in Indian capital, New Delhi, has called for creating independent states for Muslims and other minorities within India.

Speaking as a chief guest at a conference organised by Bahria University, "Kashmir: Heaven in Ashes", Khan said that before the start of the anti-Muslim riots in Delhi and after the violence the leadership of the BJP-RSS as well senior officials of Indian government have dubbed Muslims as traitors.

The Hindutva activists are regularly threatening them to go to Pakistan, when they demand their fundamental rights, he said, adding instead of dispatching them to Pakistan on the flimsiest of excuses, visceral accusations of treason and orchestrating diabolical pogroms against them, the BJP-RSS-led government should carve a new homeland within India for Muslims and minorities.

He called, "The land where Indian Muslims are living is their land and India is as much their homeland as of Hindus, Christians, Sikhs and Dalits. They cannot be expelled or deported by Hindu fascists to whom this land does not belong to exclusively." He said that India wanted to create a wave of communal violence and force Muslims to flee as it happened in UP, Patiala, Kapurthala, Alwar and Jammu in 1947. "This is not going to happen again. Muslims will stay where they are," he said.

Khan said that India had started a dual-track policy of making Kashmiri Muslims and Indian Muslims stateless, so that they could create an upper-class Hindu state and it goes without saying that Dalits would be marginalized in due course and they too would certainly have no place in this "Pavithar Rashtra". "Kashmiris and Indian Muslims will stay where they are, in their own motherland", he asserted.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan, he said would recognize "New country within India, the new homeland for Indian Muslims", if Indian government cannot bear the burden of minorities.

President Masood said that after August 5, India re-invaded, re-occupied and bifurcated occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Since the lockdown, numerous Kashmiris have been killed and thousands more have been moved to concentration camps, he said.

India in a bid to change the demographic composition of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) has planned to allot huge chunks of land to wealthy Hindu businesspersons. "All these moves are put in place to suffocate the local Muslim population and force them to concede," he said.

The AJK president said that our biggest challenge is to break the silence of the international community and the powerful capitals. India has been treated as an exception for too long and it can no longer get away with the murder of thousands of innocent Kashmiris, he said.

Sardar Masood said that before August 5 the international community would respond very cautiously to the claims of human rights violations in IOJK, out fear of not jeopardizing their strategic and economic relations with India. Now, this taboo of not speaking against India has been broken and the global community has become very responsive to the demarches made by us, said Masood Khan.

"While we yearn for a peaceful resolution of the dispute, the extremist Indian leadership has threatened to retake AJK and attack Pakistan. Pakistan is a sovereign country and India cannot just go around hurling such threats," he said.

The struggle for liberation in Kashmir is not restricted to the disputed territory rather it is a war for Pakistan's survival and the salvation of the Muslims living in the India. Other speakers included former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen (retired) Zubair Mehmood Hayat, Dr Mujahid Gillani, Ambassador Ashraf Jahangir Qazi, Ambassador Shahid Kiyani, and other renowned scholars shared their intellectual thoughts on the subject.

Sessions of the conference included, "India's barbarism in the world's largest prison", "Kashmir - a test for the changing world order", and "Perspective on Kashmir and political and diplomatic implications".

Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat thanked the worthy guests and speakers for their presence. Rector BU said that international community needed to realise that Kashmir was a nuclear flash point, which would have a disastrous impact on the lives of billions of people in the region. Therefore, the international community should step forward for its peace, while understanding its global impact.
