A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 aircraft crashed near Shakarparian on Wednesday morning during rehearsals for the March 23 parade. According to the PAF spokesperson, a PAF F-16 aircraft crashed near Shakarparian during the rehearsals for 23rd March parade. Rescue teams were dispatched towards the site of the crash. A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air headquarters to determine the cause of accident. Wing Commander Nauman Akram was martyred in the crash.
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have expressed their profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Wing Commander Nauman Akram in the plane crash.
He prayed for the martyr and patience for the bereaved family. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid glowing tribute on the shahadat of Wing Commander Nauman Akram in the line of duty.
He said laying one's life was the ultimate sacrifice one could make for the defence of the motherland. The army chief also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. He expressed his thoughts and sincere prayers for the bereaved family. Meanwhile, funeral prayers of the martyred Wing Commander Nauman Akram were offered in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, and other senior officials.
